What is Beartooth?
Beartooth is a small device that works with your existing smartphone to communicate when you have no service. With Beartooth, you can talk, text, use maps, and share location to Beartooth users within range when you have no cellular service. Beartooth also works as a backup battery for your smartphone.
How does Beartooth work?
Once you've paired Beartooth with your smartphone you can communicate with any other Beartooth users within range. You can use Beartooth's app to talk, text, use maps, and share your location.
When would I use Beartooth?
Anytime you are in a place that has no cellular service, like skiing or hiking, or when the networks are too congested, like at a music festival or football game.
When will Beartooth ship?
Beartooth ships immediately! You will be on your mission in two or three days.
Can I use Beartooth internationally?
Technically, yes, Beartooth works anywhere, but it is important to check the frequencies that are legal to communicate on in the country you are traveling in. Is there a contract or monthly fee for Beartooth?
Is there a contract or monthly fee for Beartooth?
There are no contracts or monthly fees associated with Beartooth, just a one time purchase for the hardware. What frequencies does Beartooth operate on?
Can I use Beartooth without a Beartooth device?
No, all users must have their own Beartooth devices connected to their phones. Does this work with other walkie talkies or two-way radios? When would I use Beartooth?
Do I need a Beartooth device to send and receive messages?
Yes, each user needs a Beartooth device paired with his or her smartphone to communicate.
How do I access the Getting Started Guides?
You can access our Getting Started Guides for both Android and iOS, as well as our Quick Start Youtube Walkthrough at www.beartooth.com/start.
Does Beartooth connect to the Internet?
Which phones does Beartooth work with?
What frequencies does Beartooth operate on?
Beartooth uses 900MHz digital license free band, operating between 902Mhz to 928Mhz. This gives us more than enough channels to handle even thousands of users in the same location, like a music festival or sporting event.
Does this work with other walkie talkies or two-way radios?
Beartooth only works with other Beartooth devices. While we could have designed Beartooth to be compatible with other two-way radios, this would have increased cost, increased interface complexity, and decreased battery life. With this in mind, we determined that not being compatible with legacy radios makes for a better overall experience. When would I use Beartooth?
